The Cisco Firepower 1000 Series is a family of three threat-focused Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) security platforms that deliver business resiliency through superior threat defense.

It offers exceptional sustained performance when advanced threat functions are enabled. This Series’ throughput range addresses use cases from the small office, home office, remote branch office to the Internet edge. The 1000 Series platforms run Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD).it  is a replacement of Cisco ASA 5506 and 5505 firewall which can provide 650 Mbps speed and support programing scripts.

This firewall is also supporting PoE capabilities and involve next-generation built-in IPS that uses Cisco Talos to protect the network advanced threats. Also, it enables full application visibility and control functionality all over the network and also includes build-in AMP, URL filtering and VPN capabilities. Generally, this firewall is highly recommended for small businesses and can bring them full safety and immunity from daily-developed attacks all over the Internet.

By benefiting from Firepower Device Manager which is a built-in platform all features are easily accessible and providing user friendly environment to adjust various policies. It could also be integrated with Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC) which brings centralized management over all exists firewalls all over the network.

Cisco Firepower 1000 Models

Cisco FPR 1000 firewalls are available in the following models:

• FPR-1010 supports up to 8 x RJ45 and 890 Mbps throughput.
• FPR-1120 supports up to 8 x RJ45, 4 x SFP and 2.3 Gbps throughput.
• FPR-1140 supports up to 8 x RJ45, 4 x SFP and 3.3 Gbps throughput.
• FPR-1150 supports up to 8 x RJ45, 2 x SFP, 2 x 10G SFP+ and 5.3 Gbps throughput.

Cisco Firepower 1000 License

Cisco Firepower 1000 license only can be provided in the smart type. For this matter, all product instances’ licenses are able to ordered and managed in a centralized platform which makes it easier for administrators to have a track on their licensing conditions.

Cisco Firepower 1000 Smart Licensing 

By introducing the smart licenses for Cisco products, after buying this device, first the Firepower 1000 license should be purchased with the specific Cisco smart account. Then, the device would be activated by connecting with CSSM website through the internet. Currently, there are two types of license entitlement is available for this series:  

• ASA License Entitlements: Support for Strong Encryption, Security Contexts, Carrier Inspections .

• FTD License Entitlements: Support for Threat, Malware, and URL Services. To enable full FTD capabilities on Firepower series you should purchase –TMC smart licenses.   

Customers can purchase these licenses in 3,5 and 7-year subscription.  

Moreover, as an offline registration solution, all product instances can be registered by using Firepower 1000 PLR smart license permanently.
