Cisco NCS 5000 Series

The Cisco NCS 5000 Series is Powered by industry leading routing operation system Cisco IOS XR Software, the system also offers rich functions such as third-party application hosting, machine-to-machine interface, telemetry and flexible package delivery and is an extension to Cisco’s routing platform portfolio which enable service providers and MPLS-enabled data center architectures to offer elastic networks with improved business agility and simplified operations to deliver high-bandwidth mobile, video, and cloud services.

It can also operate as an extension shelf of Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers using network virtualization (nV) technology, consolidating multiple layers in the network and dramatically reducing operational costs. The Cisco NCS 5001 and NCS 5002 are small form-factor dense GE/10GE aggregation systems.

NCS 5000 Models

The Cisco NCS 5001 is a fixed 1-RU device which provides up to 800 Gbps capacity and features MPLS aggregation router for metro aggregation, MPLS Enabled and TOR/Leaf Architectures.

The Cisco NCS 5002 and is a fixed 2-RU device which provides up to 1.2 Tbps capacity and features MPLS aggregation router for metro aggregation, MPLS Enabled and TOR/Leaf Architectures.

The Cisco NCS 5011 is a fixed 2-RU device which provides up to 3.2 Tbps capacity and features MPLS aggregation router for metro aggregation, MPLS Enabled and TOR/Leaf Architectures.

Cisco NCS 5000 License 

The Cisco NCS 5000 routers only support Cisco smart licenses and traditional licensing are no more valid for these devices’ registration.  

Cisco NCS 5000 Smart License 

For smart licensing, all licenses should be purchased with a specific smart account in the Cisco smart software management website. Then, all product instances could be registered by connecting to CSSM through the Internet or a proxy server.
