Cisco’s routing and switching product line provides intent-based networking for the WAN, LAN, and cloud. Moreover, these products include advanced analytics, application optimization, automated provisioning, and integrated security to deliver a complete proven solution.
As you may know, most of the Cisco products need licensing to function at full capacity. While, a lot of customers are migrating to Cisco smart licensing and using direct connection to Cisco smart software manager or a satellite license server in order to register their products, some customers are not satisfied with this solution. These customers believe any outbound connection would compromise their network security. At some point they are right! So what can we do?
To address Cisco online smart license challenges, Cisco has announced its Permanent License Reservation or PLR licensing as offline smart licensing. with Cisco PLR license (New type of Cisco License) , all features and capabilities will be activated unlimited and permanently for the customer. so there will be no need for any constant or periodic connection to CSSM or SSMS on premises server.
